Nyquist features

A file-first player for the library you own.

Nyquist combines responsive folder browsing and gapless playback with the output detail, analysis tools, and privacy controls expected from a focused native player.

  • Library

    Browse before a scan finishes

Folder discovery is lazy and asynchronous. Open local drives, external SSDs, and SMB libraries without importing the entire collection into a database first.

  • Playback

    Keep compatible tracks gapless

Same-format tracks are scheduled on a shared playback node so live recordings, classical works, and continuous albums keep their intended transition.

  • Output

    Choose a Mac output directly

Select a CoreAudio device, match its nominal sample rate, inspect resampling status, and optionally request exclusive mode.

  • Transparency

    Inspect the signal path

See source codec, sample rate, bit depth, processing path, output rate, and the limits of the active route instead of a single quality badge.

  • Analysis

Measure what is in a file

View waveform, loudness, ReplayGain, dynamic range, spectrum, spectrogram, bandwidth, level meters, and stereo position with contextual explanations.

  • Private

    Keep the index on-device

No account, app analytics, listening profile, or cloud music library. Search data and cached metadata stay on your device.

Deep tools stay out of the way.

Search filters, library topology, portable M3U8 playlists, UPnP/DLNA delivery, DSD over PCM on compatible Mac hardware, and output-aware volume remain available when you need them. The primary workflow is still folders, tracks, play.

Check your formats, compare platform capabilities, or read the audio guides.
